Although golf has existed for a long time, starting in Scotland, the fashion of golfers has become – from clothing to shoes.
The history of golf clothing and accessories is sketchy, but records show Woolrich Co. was the first to specialize in outdoor clothing. Woolrich, who became known for hunting coats, blankets and he got the uniform knickers in the 1920s. Some players even started wearing short pants, trousers distinctive call (the name comes from Dutch fictional family, the Knickerbockers). This style of baggy pants became popular before the 1900s.
In 1904 Thomas Burberry of London introduced some improvements in women's clothing sold in golf shops. This included the free movement Coat, special sleeves that had moved freely with arms golfer. She also brought her skirt high, that was popular decades ago with croquet players. Through the use of a cord, the skirt can be increased up to eight inches or more above the ground.
In the early decades of the 20th century, the standard golf attire was a blouse, jacket and skirt. Starting around 1909, women began to wear a knitted cardigan jacket instead. Also, knitted jersey was introduced as a choice of fabric for the skirt and blouse of golf. Other Improvements were skirts with pleats and folds on the back of her blouse.
In the 1920s, the sweater and pleated skirt continued to be a popular choice for women golfers. Golf apparel were rather flat, with a line or a pleated skirt. To add some style, often women wore patterned socks and soles rubber golf shoes. Starting around 1921, women golfers are sometimes shown in underwear, but that would not have allowed the clubs of many countries.
The piece golf clothing was introduced in the mid-1920s. New York's Best & Co. sold a dress called "Shirt." This piece of dress was perfect for golf and other active sports, and was so popular it was widely copied and became the most popular style of golf apparel for the next 30 years.
Throughout the 1930s and 40s, dressed in golf quite often the lines of fashion. Unlike tennis, where he became the skirt very short, while the golf clothes kept its length. Through the 1950s and early '60s, most women golfers wore a blouse and skirt often topped with a cashmere sweater or a cotton shirt, a dress piece. Increasingly, it is acceptable for a woman to wear a sleeveless blouse and shorts, even in the golf course.
Man evolved golf apparel as well as underwear and socks for the argyle polo shirt and shorts. Today, many golf courses have specific dress code. Golfers should inquire about dress codes in the golf courses they intend to play. In general, fields municipal golf not have dress codes, but many private courses require that those wishing to wear a collared golf shirt and shorts style chargers spring. In addition, most golf courses do not allow metal spikes on golf shoes.
Speaking of golf shoes, how have emerged? Some of credit the Duke of Windsor with the manufacture of a certain style of popular footwear for the game of golf. This design was commonly known as the inverse of the calf or shoe-leather. It was not long before the well-dressed golfer was seen wearing saddle shoes – which often has a different colored band on the instep.
One thing has not changed in form playing golf and that is the desire for comfort. With companies designing increasingly sophisticated fabrics, golfers, both men and women will not have to sacrifice style for comfort as the two mix very well together. Once the computer is joined, the player can concentrate on what is really important – the game.
