How many Boy Scout units allow their boys to wear blue jeans?
I’m just curious as to how many of you out there wear blue jeans instead of the official BSA pants.
Our troop allowed jeans for most troop events- in fact, for much of the year, the troop T or a Scout T were just fine as well.
We DID ’strongly recommend’ the official shorts and socks for summer camp and summertime ‘nice’ events, and also allowed them at indoor winter events, like courts of honor.
For official inspections, you took a points hit without the official pants or shorts, and any patrol that broke a set score (like 93 points average or something) got ice cream at the meeting and some other perks.
A nearby troop used some nylon/cotton olive ‘fatigue pants’ they found that looked good, were cheaper, and most of the people liked better than the official pants.
